about

Darkness alive with possibility
Nose to this wind full of twinkling lights
Trying to catch the scent of what's coming to be (in this)
World of Wonders
Bruce Cockburn

This album revolves around some Central Questions.
What drives us culturally to cling to our romance with negativity? The antidote doesn’t seem to just lie in focusing on our own happiness. The truth is, the world is mysterious. But how wholeheartedly is that statement embraced? We need curiosity in order to focus on this reality. How often does one wake up wondering about the mysteries of life? Is curiosity in short order?

How this album came about
While working on the album pieces the phrase impressionistic sound-music kept coming to mind. The studio is not just a instrument but, perhaps even more importantly, a paint brush and just what does that mean? The avenues of possibilities are innumerable. And mastering any one possibility, whether it be probing the depth of a single synth, soft or hardware, can take as much time as learning a traditional acoustic instrument. Not only how we treat sound and structure but how we choose to transform the overall sound-music through time is based upon how we choose to explore a studio’s capabilities. Today’s studio almost begs that the creative process remain in flux lest we ignore the studio happy accidents which become essential to the tenor of the sound-music.

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking
new landscapes, but in having new eyes.
Marcel Proust
